Moscuvy Ducks

Known for their glossy dark plumage and distinctive red facial markings, these stunning ducks originally hail from the wetlands and riverbanks of Brazil. While commercial breeding has often favored the white variety for a more polished appearance, we are excited to bring back the natural beauty of the Black Muscovy. Black female Muscovy ducks typically have glossy, iridescent black feathers that may show hints of green or purple in certain lighting. Unlike the males, they are generally smaller and less bulky. They are known for their calm and quiet demeanor. They are less noisy than other duck breeds because they do not quack. Instead, they make a soft hissing sound or a trilling coo.

These ducklings become excellent mothers and are often broody, meaning they will sit on their eggs and raise their ducklings diligently. Muscovy ducks, including the black females, are good foragers. They eat a variety of food, including insects, weeds, grasses, and small fish, which makes them beneficial for pest control.
